Villa Modiano
One of the most historic buildings that can be found in eastern Thessaloniki, is the "Villa Modiano" or otherwise "Old Government", that was built around 1905-1906 by the architect Ali Modiano. The villa has 1200 sq.m. and was the property of an Israeli banker named Yakos Modiano.
The visitors of the museum have the unique opportunity to see weapons, uniforms, paintings, medals, of incalculable value, which carry a huge historical weight. The interior space is magnificent. The first floor is dedicated to the agriculture and windmills. The second floor is like time machine. There are traditional costumes of Macedonia and Thrace in the period of 1860-1960.
Today, it houses the Folk Life and Ethnological Museum of Macedonia-Thrace. After visiting the exhibition, you can enjoy your coffee in the garden of Villa Modiano.
