Heptapyrgion

Located at the highest point of the Acropolis, it was built by the Byzantines during the Paleologian Dynasty. In 1899, it turned into one of the toughest prisons in Greece, having written their own page in the history of the city.

It owes its name to its seven rectangular towers. The access is relatively easy, as it takes a short walk to reach the top. Τhe impressive view from above will enchant you. It is one of the most famous and special attractions that you should visit in Thessaloniki.
