Church of Saint Demetrius (Hagios Demetrios)
The Church of Saint Demetrius was built in the middle of the 5th century and is dedicated to Saint Demetrius, the patron and protector of the city. It is a symbol for the city of Thessaloniki, but also for the whole of Macedonia.
It is located in the center of Thessaloniki and is only 5 minutes from the Aristotelous Square. The entrance is free and the access to the temple is easy for visitors. The temple is 43 meters long and 33 meters wide and is undoubtedly the most important temple in the city for religious and historical reasons.
