Museum of Byzantine Culture

The Museum of Byzantine Culture, one of the most modern museums, offers a comprehensive picture of Byzantine culture. It is located in the center of Thessaloniki and opened its doors to the public in 1994.

The museum's collections include sculptures, mosaics, murals, icons, coins, inscriptions, ceramics, manuscripts and minor objects, covering chronologically the early Christian, Byzantine and post-Byzantine periods.

It has eleven rooms with temporary thematic exhibitions. It's only a 3-minute walk from the White Tower and really worth a visit to get a taste of everyday, religious and imperial life in Byzantine and later Greece.
