Ancient Stageira

Ancient Stageira is the most important historical site of Halkidiki. It is located 500 meters southeast of the current village of Olympiada, on the Liotopi peninsula. It is the place where the great Greek philosopher of antiquity, Aristotle, was born. During the summer season, a festival has been established in his honor, the Aristoteleia, consisting of musical and artistic events. At the archaeological site, visitors can admire the city walls, the Acropolis, parts of Byzantine fortifications and the ancient temple and the Holly temple from the 6th century BC.
